12 Things Brides Should Do the Week of Their Wedding

It is the week of your wedding! You are probably restless with excitement about your big day, and ready to get the party started. However, before you walk down the aisle and say “I do”, there are a few things you’ll need to take care of.

Pick Up the Dress

It is finally time to get your dress! Pick up the dress from your tailor or bridal store early in the week so that you can try it on in-store and take care of any small changes, if necessary.

Break-in Your Shoes

The last thing you want is to be stuck in uncomfortable shoes on the day of your wedding. Wear your shoes around the house a few times this week to make sure they are properly broken in and ready to go. It is a good idea to make sure the bottoms are scuffed as well – this will prevent you from slipping on any slick surfaces.

Try Out the Full Look

Don’t leave trying your wedding look on until the actual day of the wedding. Try out everything you intend to wear on the big day, including the veil, undergarments, shoes, and jewelry. This will help you make sure all pieces look perfect and are comfortable, and will give you time to make any last minute adjustments to your look if you need to.

Practice Your Vows Out Loud

Even if you are a pro at public speaking, it is a good idea to practice reciting your vows out loud. It will help you get a bit more comfortable with what you’ve written, and you’ll feel more confident and prepared.

Finalize Details with Bridesmaids

It is a good idea to check in with your bridesmaids this week. Make sure they have all the information for the big day, and that they each know of any special duties they’ll need to take care of.

Wrap the Bridesmaid Gifts

If you have some gifts for your bridesmaids to show your appreciation, now is the time to wrap them up! Be sure you don’t leave getting your wrapping material until the last minute.

Pack Your Emergency Kit

You’ll want to have a small emergency kit in case anything unexpected happens on your big day. It can include bandaids, aspirin, lipstick for touch-ups, hair spray, and whatever else you may need.

Organize and Pack Your Necessities

You’ll want to get organized early in the week so that you aren’t scrambling around the morning of your wedding trying to find everything you need. Collect and pack everything you’ll need to bring to your venue, such as all the pieces to your wedding day attire, perfume, emergency kit, bridesmaid gifts, and a copy of your vows. If you’ll be staying somewhere else the night of your wedding, make sure you get together your overnight bag, as well.

Get Your Mani/Pedi and Any Additional Grooming Done

This is the week to get all of your final grooming in, so book any necessary appointments and head to the salon! Keep in mind that this isn’t the time to try any new-to-you or more aggressive beauty treatments, such as a chemical peel facial. Stick to the beauty treatments that you’ve tried before and that will keep you glowing!

Pick Your Wedding Perfume

If you’ll be wearing a signature wedding day scent, now is the time to finalize your choice! Test out a few options to see how they wear throughout the day and how long they last.

Get Your Sleep In

You’ll probably be tempted to party with friends, family, and your spouse-to-be as it gets closer to the wedding, but make sure you are still getting ample sleep. You will want to be energized for the big day!

Clean Your Ring

You are going to want your ring to shine – literally. Make sure you clean it so that it looks perfect in photos!
