Questions to Ask Wedding Transportation Vendors

Choosing a transportation company may not be the most exciting part of the wedding planning process (of course, unless you’re a car aficionado – check out these Atlanta and Savannah vendors if you’re looking for a sweet wedding day ride!). That said, it’s essential that you have a plan to get you and your guests to the celebration safely and on time. If you’re looking for a local wedding transportation vendor for your big day, here are the questions that you’ll want to ask before signing the contract.

What types of vehicles do you have? What are the capacities of each type of vehicle?

You’ll want to get a sense of all options you have with each company. Of course, you’ll also need to know the capacities for each type of vehicle. Keep in mind that you may want to stay under the capacity for these vehicles, particularly for the bridal party. If the bride, for instance, is wearing a dress with a fuller skirt, she’ll likely need a bit more space to sit comfortably and keep her dress in good shape.

What vehicles are available for our wedding date?

The entire fleet may not be available for your wedding date, so you need to confirm which vehicles are actually options for your celebration.

What amenities do your vehicles have?

This will vary from vehicle to vehicle, but it is a good idea to get a sense of the types of amenities you and your guests will be able to enjoy.

Do you offer wedding transportation packages?

Some transportation companies may have special wedding packages that come with certain perks – like a bottle of champagne in your vehicle to the ceremony. These packages also may give you a bigger discount if you use the company for all of your guest and wedding party transportation needs on your wedding day.

Can we see your insurance and operating license?

You’ll want to make sure the company is completely legitimate, and that they have adequate insurance for the vehicles.

What is the plan B if a car breaks down?

The vendor should have a plan B in place if any issues arise with the car on the day of your wedding. It’ll ease your mind knowing you’ll still get from point A to point B!

Are the drivers professionally trained?

You’re putting the safety of yourself and your guests in the hands of these drivers, so you’ll want to ensure they are licensed and trained. It’s also smart to make sure the company puts all drivers through a background check.

What will the drivers wear?

You’ll probably want to ensure the drivers don’t show up to work in jean shorts and a t-shirt – especially if they’re driving guests! While they don’t necessarily need to match the dress code, you’ll want to make sure they don’t stand out.

Is a deposit required? What is the cancellation policy?

Before signing your vendor paperwork, you’ll want to be very clear on all the terms of the contract. This includes how much you need to put down for the deposit, and what the policy is if you need to cancel.
