The Top 3 Wedding Day Health Tips for Brides

With all that happens on the day of your wedding, it is easy to forget to take care of one of the most important things—your health. Your physical health can take a toll if you don’t take care of yourself properly, so it is important to keep your overall well-being in your mind as you are saying your “I Dos”. These are a few tips to keep in mind on the day of your wedding so that you can make sure you are happy and healthy, inside and out!

Stay Hydrated

This is probably one of the most important tips to remember on the day of your wedding. If you want to feel your best from the moment you wake up to the last minutes of the reception, you’ll need to stay on top of your hydration game. This is true for everyone, but particularly important for brides getting married in warmer weather, as well as those who are planning on celebrating with a glass (or more!) of champagne. It is easy to get so distracted throughout the day that you forget to take a sip of water, so figure out a way to remember to stay hydrated. You can ask one of your bridesmaids to remind you to rehydrate every hour or make it a rule to drink a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you enjoy. The same rule should apply to caffeinated drinks you enjoy at the start of the day too because they can dehydrate you as well. Be sure to prepare for the big day by staying hydrated in the days leading up to your wedding as well.

Fuel Your Body with Nutrient-Dense Food

It’s your wedding—you’re allowed to celebrate with some decadent cake and your favorite eats! While you shouldn’t deny yourself the treat of delicious food, you should make sure you are sneaking in some good-for-you sides as well. A menu that includes nutrient-dense food (fruits and vegetables, leafy greens, healthy fats, proteins, etc.) will help you feel your physical and mental best, so you can continue to party and enjoy the company of friends, family, and your new spouse all night long! Enjoy yourself, but be sure to treat your body with some healthy foods as well.

Layer Up the Sunscreen

The last thing you want is to start your newlywed life with a painful sunburn. Be sure any exposed skin is protected by applying a good sunscreen at the start of the day. Reapplying is just as important, especially if you are getting married outside in warmer weather, so make sure you have a bottle on hand to lather up as needed. If you don’t already have a favorite sunscreen product, be sure to do some research before the wedding. For your face, you’ll want something that layers well with your makeup, so test out a few products to find your perfect match. For your body, you’ll want something that is light and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.
