Basic Considerations When Planning an Outdoor Wedding in Georgia
Whether you’re looking for indoor or outdoor wedding venues in Atlanta, you need to cover the basics. How many people can the venue accommodate? Does it work with your budget? And is it in the right location in terms of proximity to overnight accommodations and similar concerns?
Focus on these essential elements first as you look at various outdoor wedding venues in Augusta GA or other parts of the state. If a site works based on those criteria, think about how you feel about the venue. Your personal preference is a big part of this decision.
Questions to Ask When Looking at Outdoor Wedding Venues in North Georgia

- What amenities are available? Find out what’s available on site and figure out if you need to rent bathrooms, portable fridges for caterers, or other amenities.
- Do you offer marquees? A marquee can be essential for protection from both the sun and the rain.
- Do you have an alternative indoor space in case of inclement weather? A backup plan can be essential for an outdoor wedding.
- Is there access to electricity outside? You may want power for caterers, bands, DJs, and other parts of your wedding.
- Is the site handicapped accessible? If you have guests in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties, you may want to make sure they can get around the outdoor venue.
Planning Food and Drinks at Outdoor Wedding Venues in North Georgia
Different venues, both indoors and out, have a variety of rules and arrangements for food and drink, and it’s critical to cover these issues before you decide on a venue and put down a deposit. In particular, find out if the facility has in-house caterers and bartenders or if you can bring your own.
If you can bring your own, ask if there are any restrictions, and ideally, see if the venue has a point person who can liaison with your caterer. In terms of stocking the bar, make sure the venue allows you to bring in alcohol, see if you have to purchase any insurance for the big day, and find out if you need to pay a corkage fee. That is a small per-bottle fee that some venues charge if you bring in outside alcohol.
